Trump embraces tyrants, undermines our allies

President Trump, on his first foreign trip, savored the reception in Saudi Arabia, where they flaunted their wealth and lavished the president with accolades. Trump was jubilant with the royal treatment and displayed admiration for their leaders. Unfortunately, our president ignored the fact Saudi Arabia's leaders violate the human rights of their citizens and support atrocities in their country.

Trump stated in Saudi Arabia, "We are not here to lecture, we are not here to tell other people how to live, what to do, who to be or how to worship."

Our president then visited our NATO allies, who support our country, believe in protecting human rights and help protect democracies throughout the world. Trump publicly scolded our allies for lack of financial support, bullying them and suggesting our country may not support them militarily.

President Trump sent a loud and clear message to our country and citizens around the world. His leadership is more respectful and sympathetic to dictatorships that flaunt their money, power and violate human rights than he is to our long-time allies.

It's time for voices of reason in our country to rise and challenge this administration and its self-serving ways, demanding leadership that again leads with integrity and compassion.
