Norwich NAACP Sweet Potato Festival to be held Saturday

Norwich — The Norwich Branch of the NAACP will hold its annual Sweet Potato Festival from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Rose City Senior Center.

The festival includes a luncheon of chicken and several side dishes, including mashed sweet potatoes, “hoppin’ John” black-eyed peas, collard greens, rice and macaroni and cheese. A free “tasting table” of sweet potato items will be available, and sweet potato desserts will be sold.

The events also will feature cultural and musical performances.

Tickets are $25 per person for adults and $15 for children 12 and under, and are available at the door or by email at sweetpotatofest@norwichbranchnaacp.org. For information, call (860) 886-1686 or go to bit.ly/NRSweetPotato.
