Lawmakers declare #DStrong Day in Rhode Island

Dorian Murray’s fame continues to grow.

The 8-year-old Westerly boy whose family announced he wanted to be famous after they decided to stop his treatment for terminal cancer on New Year’s Day, visited the Rhode Island statehouse Wednesday as lawmakers introduced a resolution proclaiming #DStrong Day in the Ocean State.

ESPN Sportscenter Wednesday featured Sunday’s gathering of more than 2,000 people at Misquamicut State Beach to form a giant #DStrong in the sand during its popular Top 10 Plays of the day segment.

North Stonington resident Tim Yakaitis used a drone to videotape the event.

CNN’s “Erin Burnett Outfront” was expected to air a piece on Dorian Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Over the past 11 days since Dorian’s wish was made public, thousands of Facebook and Twitter messages of support have come from individuals, celebrities, schools, hospitals, police and fire departments and businesses from around the world.

Stories about him have been broadcast and published in local, regional and national media outlets.
