    USS Texas class joins the fleet

    Groton — Sixty-one sailors of "Class 15400" USS Texas (SSN-775), graduated from Basic Enlisted Submarine School on Sept. 4.

    Cryptologic Technician Interpretive 2nd Class Matthew Tietsort was class honorman with a 95.00 GPA. Tietsort continues in Information System Technician (Submarines) Apprentice (ITS "A") Training.

    Machinist Mate 3rd Class Brian Fox received the Navy Core Values Award for best exemplifying the standards and expectations of a U.S. Navy sailor. Fox continues in Basic Mechanical Skills, BMS.

    Seaman Recruit Anwaar Abubaker was recipient of the Submarine Heritage Award. Abubaker continues in Apprentice Team Training, ATT.

    Fireman Recruit Jaime Paulson was meritoriously advanced because of his academic performance and will also continue training in BMS.

    Machinist Mate 3rd Class Alesandro Bermudez-Arroyo, Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class Richard Gonzales, Seaman Recruit Bruce Millard, Cryptologic Technician Interpretive 2nd Class Justin Garside, Seaman Vincente Perez, Seaman Jorge Velezmunoz, and Fireman Apprentice Alan Holder joined Seaman Justin Falardeau as graduates with distinction.

    Basic Enlisted Submarine School is a six-week introduction to the basic theory, construction and operation of nuclear powered submarines. In preparation for an assignment, sailors receive instruction on shipboard organization, submarine safety and escape procedures.
