Ledyard — A Westerly woman was arrested Friday after police said she drove her car into a mailbox and a stone wall off Iron Street before driving across someone’s lawn and fleeing the scene.

According to police, the incident happened about 5:15 p.m. Friday near 31 Iron St.

Police said they later located the offending vehicle on state Route 117 near the Ledyard/Groton town line and, through further investigation, arrested its operator.

Tania L. Wright, 35, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, evading responsibility, failure to drive right, interfering with an officer, threatening and third-degree criminal mischief.

Released on a $2,500 bond, Wright is scheduled to appear Sept. 14 in New London Superior Court.
