Two arrested in Norwich on narcotics sale charges

Norwich — Two city residents were arrested Wednesday after police said they were found actively selling narcotics.

David Matthews Jr., 31, of 29 Oakridge St. was charged with possession of narcotics, possession of cocaine with intent to sell, possession of marijuana, traveling unreasonably fast, disobeying an officer's signal, driving with a suspended license and three counts of first-degree failure to appear in court.

Brooke Corcoran, 25, of 11 Krodel Road was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of narcotics.

According to a release, members of the Norwich Police Department Detective, Narcotics and Patrol Divisions located Matthews and Corcoran on Wednesday during a narcotics sale. Matthews was the subject of several arrest warrants, including failing to appear in court for three separate criminal cases and an incident in July, when police say he led officers in a car pursuit.

Matthews is being held on a total of $390,000 in bonds. Corcoran was released on a $2,500 nonsurety bond. Both are scheduled to appear Oct. 5 at Norwich Superior Court.

Police ask anyone with information regarding narcotic activity to report it by calling (860) 886-5561, ext. 3151 or ext. 3152.
