Police: More than 125 underage patrons were in New London bar

New London — A spot check of bars and cafes across the city Thursday night spelled bad news for Octane as police and state liquor control personnel documented more than 125 underage persons in the establishment, according to a news release.

During the check, officers and state personnel confiscated “numerous” fake IDs from underage college students and found several more on the floor and patio of Octane, according to police.

Police said the 9 Tilley St. bar was in violation of several liquor establishment laws. The state Liquor Control Commission is investigating and will be handing down any potential fines, license suspensions or other administrative sanctions.

Police said officers and liquor control officials will be conducting random spot checks of the city's establishments throughout the holiday season.
