Waterford — A crash involving a ShopRite tractor-trailer and six other vehicles resulted in delays on Interstate 95 south for several hours but injuries were minor, according to state police and the state Department of Transportation.

DOT officials said the wreck happened about 12:45 p.m. less than a mile beyond Exit 81. Crews were doing construction work in the area at the time, according to DOT.

A police dispatcher couldn’t say how many people were injured, but did say there were no serious injuries in the crash.

Waterford firefighters said fuel was leaking from two of the involved vehicles.

I-95 south at one point was backed up almost to the Gold Star Memorial Bridge.
