The New London and Waterford boys basketball teams defeated their respective opponents in the state tournament second round Thursday night March 8, 2012 to advance to the state quarterfinals.  New London beat Holy Cross 56-48 in the Class LL, while Waterford defeated Bloomfield 73-65 in the Class M.
