Sarah Jane Davis, 84 Madison
Sarah Jane Davis, 84, of Madison, died peacefully on April 22, surrounded by her family, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on Oct. 2, 1925 in Chester, South Carolina, daughter of Killough and Ivor Patrick. She graduated from Erskine College and moved to Connecticut upon her marriage to Abbott H. Davis, Jr.
With an understated beauty and a kind and gentle nature, she was the nurturing backbone of her large extended family. Her happiest moments were when she was surrounded by her husband, children, and grandchildren at the shore in Madison, when tending her flower garden, or when listening to Abbott play the piano. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.
Besides her devoted and loving husband of 63 years, she is survived by her children Abbott (Kip) and Georgia Davis of Madison; Jane and Robert Wyld of West Simsbury; Diane Denis and Harley Hiscock of Woodbridge; and Bruce and Margaret Davis of New York City, New York. She is also survived by her beloved 11 grandchildren and her twin sisters Hannah Phillips and Ivor Stephenson of Winnsboro, South Carolina. She was predeceased by her brother Dr. Killough Patrick, Jr., of Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations in her honor be made to The American Cancer Society. The Swan Funeral Home of Madison was in charge of arrangements.
