Norwich woman charged with assault in McDonald's disturbance
Norwich — A Norwich woman faces an assault charge after she allegedly caused a disturbance at the Norwichtown McDonald’s restaurant last Friday over her displeasure with her McChicken sandwich, police said.
Shannelle A. Hanson, 21, of 121 Boswell Ave. was charged at 8:20 p.m. Friday with breach of peace and third-degree assault on a pregnant person. She initially was held on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear June 13 in Norwich Superior Court.
Police said Hanson became irate with the staff at the McDonald’s at 78 Town St. due to her displeasure with her McChicken sandwich. She allegedly forced her way behind the counter in an attempt to make her own sandwich, and in the process she allegedly assaulted the manager, who is pregnant.
