Is Your Mom Cool??
Ok, now that I am a mom (how long do you think I get to say "now that I am a mom", I mean, it's been 18 months…) I really eat up all the sappy mom stuff that I used to not even bat an eyelash at. So, you can bet that if The Day didn't pay me to write this blog, I would be entering their "Make Mom's Day" contest. You just have to write about the coolest mom you know and the editors narrow down the choices to five entries and then the public (you guys!!) get to vote on your favorite. There are three prize packs (which if you get into the top five is pretty good odds on winning something) which include jewelry, spa visits, restaurant gift certificates and more. AND the winning mom gets a profile written about her in an upcoming issue of Grace Magazine. Seriously, I wish I could enter. I need allllllllllll of those things.
Oh wait, you say to yourself, how could she win if she is the one entering? Well, IF I could enter, clearly I would have Little Man write up an entry about me. You know, take a different angle on the whole thing. I mean, don't steal my idea or anything, but IF I could enter my entry would look like this:
Dear People At The Paper—
I want to enter my Mommy into your contest. She is really the coolest Mommy I know because she does a ton of fun stuff with me all the time. She takes me to the aquarium and teaches me about all the fishies and animals. She takes me to the farm and we get to see chickens and roosters and geese and emus and llamas and goats. I really really like animals and it is so cool that my Mommy takes me to see all sorts of different kinds. You know another really cool thing she does? I looooovvvve the dino that we drive by in our car and sometimes my Mommy stops and parks the car so I can see it better and then we roar at each other and talk about the ninoh's eyeballs and teeth and stuff. At home, she plays with me all the time, we do puzzles and we build towers and we cook and we sing and she takes me swinging outside. She also reads me all the books I want and I really read a lot of books.
I don't know, maybe all Mommys do these things, but i know my Mommy does them because she loves me sooooo much and I think she just likes to make sure I am happy all the time. I do get sad sometimes when she has to leave me at school, but it is cool because she always comes home at night to put me to bed. I love my Mommy a whole lot and I can't really imagine that there is a cooler Mommy than her. I think my Mommy needs to win your contest because she takes such good care of me all the time and someone needs to take care of her a little bit, because making me soooooo happy must really make her tired. And if my Mommy doesn't win your contest, it really won't matter too much because she will still love me more than anyone but me will ever know. She is the best Mommy I could ever ask for.
Thank you for your consideration,
Little Man
He is very articulate for being so young, isn't he?
(So, do you know a cool mom? Just go to www.theday.com/mom to enter! Good luck!)
