To savor the grape in Stonington
Somewhere, in some similar newspaper entertainment guide or perhaps a regional tourist magazine, some journalist is probably tasked with writing about how great it is that the Boone’s Farm vineyard is in their town. “Vintner Augustus Boone’s dream was to provide college students with cheaply priced wines redolent of fruity flavors like apple, berry and melon …” the desperately bouncy copy would read.
Fortunately, in Stonington and North Stonington, we’re blessed with four significantly excellent vineyards in the heart of the Connecticut Wine Trail – all of whom have wines that far exceed the frat party demographic. Local sommeliers as well as casual but knowledgeable wine enthusiasts know they’re fortunate to have easy access to these operations – and each offers such things as -- in addition to their respective varieties of wine -- tours, tastings, clubs and classes, special events including weddings, live music and more.
