Men have called her a bestselling author

    Anna Marie Tendler (annamarietendler.com)

Multimedia artist/author Anna Marie Tendler appears Tuesday in Westerly’s United Theatre to discuss and sign copies of “Men Have Called Her Crazy,” her New York Times best-selling memoir.

In the book, Tendler described voluntarily checking herself into a psychiatric hospital after a series of significant events in her life – many of which, as the title suggests, involved experiences and relationships with men.

Additionally, as press material in support of the memoir says, “This stunning literary self-portrait examines the unreasonable expectations and pressures women face in the 21st century. Yet overwhelming and despairing as that can feel, Tendler ultimately offers a message of hope.”

Tendler has been an in-demand makeup and hair stylist in film, television and theater, owns a company that handcrafts Victorian lampshades, is a textile artist and photographer, and was also married for eight years to comedian John Mulaney.

Anna Marie Tendler, 6 p.m. Tuesday, United Theatre, 5 Canal St., Westerly; $10 general admission, $38 with signed copy of book; unitedtheatre.org.
