So-rock, Yankee style
New Haven trio Pinto Graham describes its music as “Southern rock.”
Not to get all semantic-y about it, but: Can one be in a Southern rock band if you live in the same town as Yale?
Having listened to Pinto Graham, which plays Friday in New London at 33 Golden Street, I’m gonna say they do a pretty damned good job of playing music that sounds like Southern rock.
Of course, this is the sort of metaphor that resulted in William F. Buckley Jr. describing himself as “the Neville Brothers of conservative publishing.”
In the end, whatever you want to call it, Pinto Graham rocks righteously regardless of the zip code.
Pinto Graham, 9 p.m. Friday, 33 Golden Street. 33 Golden St.,, New London; $10; (860) 443-1193.
