People tend to celebrate East Lyme all summer. The beaches! The boardwalk! The outdoor dining and in-the-park concerts!

But if you need a specific day to really get into the spirit of feting East Lyme, this Saturday is it. It’s when the official and annual Celebrate East Lyme occurs.

The event is full of fun activities, all culminating in fireworks over Niantic Bay at around 9 p.m. The fireworks are executed by Tom Quinn, who is from East Lyme, and sponsored by Dominion.

    Among the other goings-on:

Musicians perform on stages at Pro-Tek Auto, Main Street Park and McCook Point Park. Main Street is chock full of more than 200 vendors. There is a sand castle competition at Hole in the Wall. And St. John’s Episcopal Church hosts a carnival full of spinning and twisting rides.

Celebrate East Lyme, 3-9 p.m. Saturday, Main Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, Niantic; eltownhall.com.
