GOP should stop using LGBTQ+ to scare residents
As we celebrate Pride Month, I am disappointed by the silence of the Connecticut Republican Party on the attack on LGBTQ+ rights going on in Connecticut and around the country. The Connecticut Republican Party has chosen not to speak out against the discriminatory laws and policies that harm LGBTQ+ people and their families. In fact, several of their elected members have chosen to attack the LGBTQ+ community because they see it as an alternative to doing anything to actually help their constituents.
Apparently, they think it's easier to scare your voters with made-up stories about drag queens and trans people than it is to actually do something for their constituents. Silence on this issue is not neutrality; it is complicity. Every American deserves to be treated with dignity and respect.
It's time for the Connecticut Republican Party to prioritize the well-being of all residents, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. Let's ensure that Connecticut is a place where everyone can thrive, no matter who they are or whom they love.
