Resold handguns could be used by law-abiding citizens
The article in The Day (Aug.18) “Waterford residents worry police handguns could fall into the wrong hands after trade-in,” was based on a CBS news report which listed the number of handguns returned for rebate, and then resold. Two residents in Waterford said they are concerned the guns, if not destroyed, could end up in the hands of criminals. I would think that by far, the majority of those returned handguns sold in those 15 years ended up in the hands of law-abiding citizens. I wonder how many murders, rapes, home invasions and more crimes were prevented, because these guns were available to decent people.
