    NBHS 'Big Give' Tops $13,500 for Local Charities

    Congratulations to the more than 50 North Branford High School (NBHS) students who participated in the Big Give Charity Challenge this year! 

    On May 5, representatives and recipients were on hand at NBHS, with students presenting their donations to local charities and families.  This year, students raised over $13,500 with a total of  $53,500 raised during four Big Give events at NBHS since 2010.  

    A total of $13,950 was distributed among charitable groups including All the Kings Horses Equine Rescue, American Lung Association, Chron's & Colitis Foundation of America, St. Baldrick's Foundation, Branford Compassion Club, The Evans Family, The Fernandez Family, Matt's Mission Fund, NB Closer to Free Team Smilow Cancer Hospital; North Branford Food Pantry, North Branford Public Libraries, North Branford Unleashed!, Special Olympics, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8294 and Veteran Anglers.

    A big thank you to teacher and Big Give co-advisor Stephanie Byrd, who started this important event in 2010 and continues today with the assistance of teachers Jennifer Barbato and Megan Bishop.  

    Congratulations to all; and thanks to the families of the students for their support as well.
