Waterford — Developers looking to submit proposals to turn the buildings at the former Seaside Regional Center into a hotel have until Friday to sign up with the state for a tour of the buildings.

State officials released the request for proposals in March to develop the former tuberculosis hospital, a collection of aging buildings, seawalls and landscaped lawns, into a destination hotel. It calls for at least a 50-year lease of the buildings for a hotel with up to 100 rooms, and leaves the rest of the park and beach open to the public.

The responses from developers are due to the state July 27.

The tour on May 7 will not be open to the public, and state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection officials said the list of developers who request to join the tour will not be made public because it's a document related to the request for proposals, which is protected until DEEP chooses a developer under the state Freedom of Information law.

Those interested in taking a tour of the buildings can register for the tour by 4 p.m. Friday by emailing DEEP's Tenia Seay at tenia.seay@ct.gov.
