Norwich Harbor July 4 fireworks festival canceled
Norwich — The annual Norwich Harbor July 4 fireworks festival that draws tens of thousands of people to downtown will be canceled this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Norwich Events Organization announced Wednesday.
“It is unfortunate that we can’t provide this amazing community event,” Rebecca Alberts, Norwich Events Organization chairwoman said in a news release. “We were keeping our fingers crossed that this year’s event would be able to take place, but it’s more important that we support social distancing recommendations and keep our community safe.”
The event is run by volunteers and funded by local sponsorships and donations.
