Let's Go: Benefit concert for Afghan refugees living in the region
A benefit concert to support Start Fresh’s efforts to resettle Afghan refugees in southeastern Connecticut will take place at 4 p.m. Sunday, April 3, at Calvary Episcopal Church in Stonington.
Pianist Joel A. Martin will offer a program of Jazzical — a fusion of classical composition with jazz innovation. Martin has written music for Grammy Award-winners Kathleen Battle (Met Opera legend soprano), Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas, the Brooklyn Youth Chorus, Paul Winter Consort and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Jaimoe of the Allman Brothers among many others.
Tickets are $50. The entire amount goes to support an Afghan family resettled in New London as they adjust to life in the United States. To purchase tickets. go to calvarychurchstonington.org/afghan-benefit-concert. Tickets are not available at the door.
