Montville voters approve up to $10.8 million for road and high school athletic facilities
Montville ― Voters here on Tuesday approved a proposal to bond as much as $10.8 million to improve town roads and replace the turf field and track at Montville High School.
Two questions were posed to voters on Tuesday’s ballot.
The first asked voters to authorize a proposal to bond $8.5 million for the paving, reconstruction and repair of roads, bridges and culverts, and related drainage projects.
It passed by a 5,711 to 2,297 vote.
The second question asked voters to authorize the Town Council to bond $2.35 million to replace the track and turf field at the school.
It passed by a 4,393 to 3,597 vote.
Town Council Chairman Tim May said the cost of the bonds to taxpayers will be offset as a result of the town recently paying off two large bonds.
“These were much needed items that the people of Montville realized were very important to keep the town (running), and bonding it is the most cost-effective way to go,” May said.
