Norwich school staff, board member to show off talent in fundraiser Friday
Norwich ― Students, parents, co-workers and friends can cheer, applaud and laugh at Norwich Public Schools teachers and staff Friday at the annual Staff Follies talent show to raise money for the Norwich Public Schools Education Foundation.
The event will be held at the Kelly STEAM Magnet Middle School, 25 Mahan Drive, auditorium beginning at 6 p.m. with a performance by the Norwich middle school band, one of many programs that has received funding through the nonprofit foundation. The Staff Follies begins at 6:30 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults prior to Friday, or for $10 at the door. Children under age 15 admitted free.
Tickets are available before Friday at https://www.npseducationfoundation.org/staff-follies/ or can be purchased at the front office at any Norwich public school.
Teachers and staff are volunteering their time and talents in music, singing and improv for the Follies show. Board of Education Chairman Mark Kulos will sing, and the Norwich Free Academy Dance Team and the youth dance group, Blooming into Greatness, will perform.
The middle school band will perform again during intermission.
The Education Foundation raises money and awards grants each year to classroom teachers and programs. The instrumental music program has been a focus of the foundation over the years, allowing hundreds of students in the city’s two middle schools to take up instrumental music. Every elementary school also has instrumental music.
