Milton and Mareanthe Papathanasiou were married in Kopanos, Greece on Sept. 23, 1962. They have three beautiful children and seven wonderful grandchildren.

When they left Greece, they came to America by boat. It took 12 days for them to arrive in New York, then they rented a cab to New London, back then the cost was $125 dollars.

A wonderful family living in New London at the time, Leo Nekolau, were able to get Milton a job at New London Textile and they were very grateful for this. He then worked at many different places, including owning Ocean Pizza before selling it back to its original owner and for the last 20 years Golden Gate Pizza in Groton. During that time, they had many good customers from the Sub Base and really appreciated their business.

They celebrated their anniversary at Langley’s Restaurant with their children, grandchildren, and nephews.
