I am grateful to Peter Gabriel for many things, not the least of which would be his share of the one-through-four chronological greatness of the Genesis “Nursery Cryme,” “Foxtrot,” “Selling England by the Pound” and “The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway” albums.

He also, as a tangent of a subsequent and tremendous solo career, signed the gospel group Blind Boys of Alabama to his own Real World Records label. Their debut for Real World was called “Spirit of the Century,” and you should immediately drop everything you’re doing and queue up the song “Run On For a Long Time.”

Okay, great — then you’re sold on the act and I assume you’ll be in the Mohegan Sun Wolf Den Saturday for their free performance. If that’s not enough, well, this is one of the finest Deep South gospel acts ever — and that they’ve been active since the 1930s, with founding member Jimmy Carter and Clarence Fountain still touring (as health permits), is just amazing and inspiring.
