H.S. roundup: East Lyme volleyball team beats Suffield for 12th straight victory

East Lyme — Abby Parulis had 19 kills and 12 digs as East Lyme won its 12th straight match with a 3-1 non-league volleyball victory over Suffield on Monday night.Game scores were 25-19, 25-18, 21-25 and 25-16 as the Vikings improved to 16-2 while handing Suffield (15-2) only its second loss.Bella Diep added 41 assists and 11 digs for East Lyme while Skylar Bell finished with 22 digs and five kills, Mia Williamson 11 digs and Addison Soleau 11 kills.In other matches:• Waterford defeated Fitch 25-23, 25-18 and 25-18. Danica Agsalud had 27 assists for the Lancers (15-3) while Emerson Lane added 11 kills, four blocks and three aces and Ava Majeski had 10 digs and three aces. Bella Ditmore led the Falcons (6-12) with 20 assists while Abby Malone finished with 12 kills and nine digs.• New London dropped a 3-1 decision to Windham by game scores of 20-25, 25-23, 27-25 and 25-12. Nyarah Dudley had 34 digs, 13 service points, three aces, three kills and four blocks for the Whalers (9-10) while Serenity Lancaster added 20 digs, nine points, nine kills and four blocks, Merecedes Pratts had 17 digs, Myrna Pratts 14 digs, Cashel Jones 12 digs, eight assists and two aces, Raelyn Lopez eight digs and nine assists and Malahika Paulo 12 digs and two aces.• Ledyard defeated Norwich Tech 25-22, 25-9 and 25-15 in a non-league game. Keara Opelenik had six kills, Kyle Gill 10 digs and Emily Peckham 16 assists for the Colonels (7-12). Norwich Tech is 6-11.• Hale-Ray rallied for an 18-25, 25-23, 25-19 and 25-21 win over Old Lyme in the Shoreline Conference. Peighton Andrews had 14 kills, nine aces and 14 digs for the Wildcats (8-11, 7-10) while Grace Phaneuf added 29 assists and 16 digs, Maya LeQuire eight kills and Sydney Siefken 19 digs.• Wheeler defeated Ellis Tech 25-18,25-16 and 25-18 in a non-league match. Allison Needham had eight assists and two aces for the Lions (7-10) while Anna Barber finished with four assists and four aces.• NFA snapped Montville's 12-match winning streak with an 18-25, 25-19, 26-24 and 25-22 win over the Wolves. Savannah Guernsey had 16 assists, Ginger Weston 16 digs and Emily Orcutt seven kills and five blocks for the Wildcats (13-6) while Zoie Farrah had 17 kills, Mackenzie Payne 25 assists and Alywa Ovalles 15 digs for Montville (15-3).Boys' soccer• Ledyard overcame an early 1-0 deficit to defeat Waterford 3-1 in an Eastern Connecticut Conference Division II match. Griffin Neal gave the Lancers (9-6, 3-4) a 1-0 lead just nine seconds into the match, but the Colonels (13-1, 6-0) finally came alive with three second-half goals, two by Ben Crowe and one by Peyton Luther. Luther, Sebby Fieldsend and Jack Smith each had assists and goalie Paulo Templeton made eight saves. Ben Dubicki mad eight saves for Waterford.• Newly-crowned ECC Division III champion Montville battled host Old Lyme to a 3-3 non-league draw. Chris Baukus, Eli Klusek and Colby Cowan scored goals for the Wolves (11-2-2), Noah Keenan and Nolan Muncaster added assists and goalie Adonis Santiago made seven saves. Lucas Dasilva had a goal and an assist for Old Lyme (4-10-2), Alis Bicic and Mason Bussman scored one goal apiece, Owen Snurkowski had an assist and goalie Oliver Wyman made two saves.• Parker Gustine's goal with 11 minutes remained helped East Hampton earn a 1-1 draw with East Lyme in a non-league matchup. Brendan Osso, assisted by Dom Stefanski, had given the Vikings (13-1-1) a 1-0 lead in the 11th minute. Ben Johnson made four saves for East Lyme while Finn Power stopped six shots for the Bellringers (11-2-1).• Ben Syphrett scored the game's only goal in the first half as St. Bernard edged Fitch 1-0. Jose Pacheco assiste for the Saints (12-3) and goalie Tim Regan made six saves for the shutout. Will Haugeto made five saves for Fitch (3-9-2).• Harrison Avery scored a pair of goals as Wheeler ended its regular season with a 3-0 non-league win over Grasso Tech. Avery has 16 goals for the Lions (10-6), who also picked up a goal by Jack Dowry with Jon Anderso needing to make just one save for his fifth shutout. Grasso Tech is 4-9-2.Girls' soccer• Adyson Wiseman had two goals and two assists as No. 4 Waterford built a 4-0 halftime lead and cruised to a 5-0 ECC Division I victory over Fitch. Victoria Sturm made two saves to earn her 10th shutout of the season for the Lancers (12-1-2, 6-1), while Paige Jessuck added a goal and two assists, Allison Cioci and Charlotte Jessuck each scored a goal and Anna Waddington had an assist. Jayda Johnson made five saves in goal for the Falcons (0-15-1, 0-7-1).• Lyman Memorial improved to 11-2 with a 2-0 non-league win over Westbrook. Haley Cardinali scored off a rebound from an Emily McKelvey shot in the 17th minute and McKelvey, assistsed by Becca Ziegler, added an insurance goal in the 64th minute. Phoebe Carpenter made three saves in goal for the Bulldogs.• Helena Robinson had a goal and an assist during Ledyard's 3-2 non-league loss to Old Lyme. Teagan Caviness also had a goal for the Colonels (3-10-2). Old Lyme is 7-5-3.• Natalie Smith scored both goals in Grasso Tech's 2-1 win over Norwich Tech/Holy Family in a CTC match. The Eagles are 7-7, 7-7. Hannah Ross scored for NT/HF (3-11-1, 3-8-1).Swimming• NFA defeated Suffield 81-73 in a non-league meet. The Wildcats (2-7) picked up individual wins from Sawyer Levine in the 100-yard butterfly and 100 backstroke, Natalie Bezanson in the 200 individual medley and Catie Wiffield in the 500 freestyle.
