High school baseball/softball roundup: Pontbriant pitches the Bulldogs to a first-place finish

Putnam — Dominic Pontbriant threw a three-hitter, striking out 12 in a complete game effort, and Lyman Memorial clinched the Eastern Connecticut Conference Division IV baseball title with a 9-1 victory over Putnam on Tuesday.Pontbriant also chipped in three hits and an RBI for the Bulldogs, who improved 14-5 overall, 8-0 in the division.Connor Hawkins had a single, double and two RBI.In other games:• Chris Lusignan had three home runs, including a grand slam, and eight RBI and Bacon Academy scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to beat Stonington 12-11 in ECC Division III.
