A 26-year-old suspected of killing a Connecticut man before stabbing six others, including four children, in Massachusetts this weekend was also charged in connection with an assault from earlier this year, according to reports from WCVB, a Hearst Television station in Boston.Jared Christian Ravizza was arraigned Tuesday in Plymouth District Court in Massachusetts on charges stemming from an incident at a McDonald's at a Route 3 rest stop Saturday night. He is also facing charges out of Quincy District Court in connection with stabbing four girls about an hour before McDonald's at a movie theater in Braintree, Mass.On Tuesday, the prosecutor at Plymouth District Court said Ravizza wasn't apprehended until he crashed his vehicle, which became engulfed in flames, after a pursuit with police in Sandwich, Mass.Charges are pending in the Connecticut homicide, according to state police.WCVB reported that a mental health evaluation was ordered during the arraignment on Tuesday. After a few hours, a doctor told the court that Ravizza does appear to have delusions, trouble focusing and voices in his head that tell him to do things, WCVB reported.The Plymouth Office of the District Attorney said a court clinician recommended Ravizza to be further evaluated over the next 20 days at Bridgewater State Hospital. Ravizza is being held without bail while at the hospital and is next scheduled to appear in court on June 17.WCVB reported that Ravizza was arrested in mid-April on Martha's Vineyard after he was accused of assaulting his father. A police report said Ravizza's dad called 911 and told West Tisbury police that his son "just had a mental break and attacked him," WCVB reported.Officers wrote in the police report that Ravizza seemed intoxicated and spoke to them about "nonsensical things ... and began frothing out of the mouth as he spoke," according to WCVB.The police report states that authorities wanted Ravizza involuntarily held at a hospital. However, an examination by a mental health professional determined he did not meet their standards to be held, WCVB reported.He was charged with assault and battery and destruction of property in the April incident, according to WCVB. Ravizza entered a diversion program for the charges, which would have been dismissed in November if he had remained out of trouble.The criminal complaint from the McDonald's incident states Ravizza resides in Agawam, Mass., though Connecticut State Police said he is from Chilmark, Mass., which is a town on Martha's Vineyard.Ravizza's employer is listed as Ravizza Jones LLC on the criminal complaint. A website for the company states it is a global digital marketing and social media management agency, and that Ravizza is the CEO.The company's website describes Ravizza as an American artist and skier.On Saturday, Connecticut State Police said Ravizza killed 70-year-old West Hartford resident Bruce Feldman on Maritone Lane in Deep River. Police have not said what motivated the attack or the connection between the men.On Tuesday, a neighbor of the Maritone home said the owners rented the property as an Airbnb, and both Feldman and Ravizza had been staying there for the past couple of weeks. While Feldman walked his dog in the neighborhood and talked to people, neighbor Kate Brashears said those in the neighborhood never saw Ravizza, but only his black Porsche coming and going.Neighbors were unsure of the connection between the two men or how they ended up in the home together, according to Brashears.Neighbors didn't know what had happened until police arrived Saturday afternoon, Brashears said.Connecticut State Police were called to nearby Merriwold Lane around 3:35 p.m. Saturday after Ravizza threw a shovel through the front door window pane of a home. The suspect had left the scene, but witnesses told troopers he had been staying nearby on Maritone Lane, where they heard an argument.When a trooper went to investigate the Maritone Lane address, he found Feldman with visible injuries outside the home, state police said. Feldman was pronounced dead at the scene, at which point state police issued an alert for Ravizza and his vehicle.The state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner said Tuesday that Feldman died of stab wounds to the torso and head, and ruled his death as a homicide.About three hours after Feldman was found, Massachusetts police said Ravizza stabbed four girls between the ages of 9 and 17 at an AMC movie theater around 6:45 p.m. in Braintree, Mass. The movie theater is about two hours northwest of Deep River.The girls — three of whom are siblings — were waiting to watch a movie when they were hurt, according to their mother, who spoke to WCVB. The girls were not seriously injured, the outlet reported.Ravizza is facing four counts of assault to murder and four counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon in Quincy District Court, according to WCVB.Police were then called to the McDonald's at a Route 3 rest stop around 7:45 p.m. Saturday in Plymouth, Mass. The criminal complaint said Ravizza entered the drive-thru in a black 2018 Porsche Macan, briefly stepped out of the vehicle and publicly urinated.Ravizza then went to the drive-thru and stabbed a 28-year-old male employee, according to the complaint. An employee told police she saw Ravizza park his car and enter the building. He walked in wearing a jacket, no shirt and had a large knife in his hand as an employee yelled at him to stop and screamed for help, the complaint said. He stabbed a 21-year-old female employee three times, the criminal complaint states.It was the female employee's first day working at the restaurant, another worker told police, according to the criminal complaint.Both victims were taken to area hospitals and are in stable condition, though the prosecutor noted that one of the woman's wounds were about 5 centimeters deep.Ravizza was charged with armed assault to murder, two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and indecent exposure in connection with the McDonald's incident, according to the complaint.This story used previous reporting from staff writers Lisa Backus and Peter Yankowski.
