H.S. roundup: Iacobellis sparks Williams School girls' lacrosse to convincing victory

Waterford — Ally Iacobellis scored nine goals for the Williams School girls' lacrosse team in a 21-11 victory over the Harvey School on Tuesday. The Blues improved to 7-5 overall. Annie Gingras chipped in six goals and an assist for Williams while Elle Reid had two goals and five draw controls and Alex Pesarik added two goals and an assist. Marlee Anselmi had one goal and two assists. Boys' lacrosse • Lucas Wanamaker had four goals and two assists as Ledyard/Griswold beat NFA 11-5. Cortland Ruggerio and Nick Favaloro had two goals each, Robert Jackson, James Tweed and Eric Williams scored goals and Mike Powers had an assist for the Colonels (5-6). Tristan Laney scored twice, Gavin Jenkins had a goal and an assist, Corlan Beetle and Brendan Sadler scored goals and Matt Manke had an assist for NFA (3-8). • Finn Bruno had three goals and an assist and Gabe Hanney added three goals, as East Lyme beat Stonington, 16-3. Jason Stahl had a goal and three assists for the Vikings (10-2) while Ryan Dueker, Oliver Ginther and Anthony Diloreto each had two goals. Kyle Olsson led the Bears (5-7) with three goals and Josh McBain had an assist. • Troy Johnson scored four goals and had an assist, leading Bacon Academy past Waterford, 7-2. Ethan Lovetere had two goals and Zach Carroll also scored for the Bobcats (7-2) while goalie Stephen Staeach made seven saves. Cole Baumgartner had a goal and an assist for the Lancers (7-4) and Alex Bousquet also scored. • Mark Sauchuk, Tyler Stringer and Jimmy Niles scored five goals each as St. Bernard/Wheeler beat Woodstock Academy 17-1 on Monday. Ben Howes had a goal and five assists, Maddon Roan scored a goal, Sauchuk had three assists and Stringer had two assists for the Saints (9-4). Girls' golf • Norwich Free Academy's Caroline Goderre shot a 41 to earn medalist honors at the Wildcat Invitational at Norwich Golf Course. The host Wildcats placed second out of four teams with 201 strokes. Coventry won the team title with 193 while Killingly (209) and East Lyme (237) took third and fourth, respectively. Killingly's Kendra St. Marie and NFA's Erin O'Farrell each finished with a 48. Boys' tennis • Waterford topped Woodstock Academy 7-0 on Monday night at Pomfret School. Christos Matsas, Colton Murch, Justin Wang and Ethan Wang all won in straight sets for the Lancers (7-3). The doubles teams of Andrew Bertrand-Jayden Campisi, Arthur Dhervilly-Scott DeBiasi and Michael Gialpis-Alex Seltzer also won in straight sets.
