Local roundup: Old Lyme girls' tennis team continues to roll

Cromwell — The Old Lyme High School girls' tennis team continues to pile up wins. On Wednesday, the Wildcats rolled past Cromwell 7-0. Katherine Zhang, Emma Arelt, Mari Munster and Rose Dimmock all won their singles matches without losing a game. The doubles duos of Stella Young/Addy Morosky, Katie Ferman/Allegra Schaedler and Ainsley Rinoski/Caterina Wilson also posted straight-set wins. The Wildcats improved to 10-1 overall. In other matches: • Waterford blanked Woodstock 7-0, receiving straight set singles wins from Marina Matsas, Tori Campisi, Nayong Kwon and Lila Tinnerello. The Lancers are 8-0 overall. • Gwen McGugan, Misha Lewandowski, Marina Lewandowski and Bethany Schoenecker won singles matches for Stonington in a 7-0 victory over Ledyard. The Bears are 7-1 overall, Ledyard is 3-6. H.S. boys' tennis • Stonington swept St. Bernard-Wheeler 7-0, receiving straight-set singles wins from Brady O'Neil, Chase Donnarummo and Sam Lund and a No. 1 doubles win from Peter Schoenecker and Aaron Fulling. The Bears improved to 8-1. The Saints fell to 1-8. • Ledyard's No. 2 singles player Jordan Yeung and No. 1 doubles duo of Luke Anderson and Tyler Mileski won their matches without dropping a game in a 7-0 shutout of Norwich Free Academy in Eastern Connecticut Conference Division II. Ledyard is 5-3 overall, 2-1 in the division and NFA is 1-7, 0-5. • Benny Wu, Danny Zhong, Jack Bowman and Ryan Hochdorfer won their singles matches in straight sets in Montville's 5-2 win over Woodstock Academy in ECC Division II. The Wolves are 7-2, 4-0. • Cromwell defeated Old Lyme 4-3. Micah Bass won at No. 2 singles for Old Lyme, which also got victories from the doubles teams of Chris Dagher and Gavin Gray and Ryan Olsen and Oliver Wyman. Cromwell earned the deciding point at No. 3 doubles, with Aiden Petrucelli and John Clark edging Ryan Miller and John Turick in a closely contested match, 7-6 (1), 3-6, 6-2. Old Lyme is 5-6. • Williams School dropped a 4-3 decision to Country School at Lyme Shores Racquet Club. The Blues swept the doubles match, with No. 1 duo of Will Corkhill and Sadie Rotolo winning 8-4. H.S. boys' golf • NFA posted the low mark for team medal points with a 158 in a tri-match with Waterford (174) and Griswold (187) at Great Neck Country Club. Tyler Hollis earned medalist honors with a 1-over par 36, leading the Wildcats (9-0) past Griswold, 6-1, and Waterford, 5-2. The Lancers (4-4) defeated the Wolverines (5-3), 4.5-2.5. • Killingly lost its first match of the season, falling to RHAM 152-165 at Blackledge Country Club in Hebron. Quin Crowley led Killingly (5-1) with a 1-over par 37. • Old Lyme's Jonah Scheckwitz and Carter McGlinchey each fired a 41, but the Wildcats (4-3, 4-3) lost to East Hampton 162-173 in a Shoreline Conference match at Black Hall Club in Old Lyme. • Bacon Academy's Jackson Lavertue was the medalist with a 39, leading the Bobcats past Montville 172-184 at Chanticlair Golf Course. Aiden Toennes shot a 40 for Bacon (2-6). Jace Cheung and Owen Craig both had a 42 for the Wolves (4-3). • Grasso Tech's Chad Planeta and Windham Tech's Jackson Richard shared medalist honors with a 42, and the Eagles (7-5) won the match 188-194 at Pequot Golf Course. H.S. girls' lacrosse • Williams School beat Forman School 15-11 in its regular-season finale. Ally Iacobelli chipped in 10 goals, one assist and four draw controls for the Blues (8-5) while Annie Gingras had four goals and one assist and goalie Chloe Crimmins made five saves. • Cassidy O'Brien had five goals and an assist as East Lyme beat Stonington 13-5 on Tuesday night. Taylor Kachinsky had three goals and four assists, Jessica Knapp had three goals, an assist and seven draw controls and Callan Keefe had a goal and two assists for the Vikings (9-2). Ani Mazzulli had six ground balls, Shea Killoy had five ground balls and Juju Guarraia had four ground balls for East Lyme. Shay Burnside scored five goals for Stonington (10-3). College softball • Third-seeded Springfield edged No. 7 Coast Guard Academy 3-2 in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference tournament. Freshman Madeline Kibler was 2-for-3 for with a double and two RBI for Coast Guard (16-19-1). The Bears will meet No. 4 Wheaton in a losers' bracket game at 10 a.m. Thursday at MIT.
