Groton City police arrest suspected fentanyl dealer
Groton ― City police arrested a suspected fentanyl dealer on Saturday and seized 109 bags of the drug, along with cash and drug paraphernalia, while serving a warrant at a Groton hotel, police said.
Police, with assistance from a state police K9 unit, served a search and seizure warrant at the Thames Inn and Marina at 193 Thames St. Along with the fentanyl, police said they seized nine Clonazepam pills and $320 in cash.
Brenda Donaldson, 54, formerly of New London, was charged with possession of narcotics with intent to sell, possession of a controlled substance, misrepresentation of a substance as a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, interfering with an officer and two counts of possession of narcotics.
Police said that Donaldson was also wanted on two warrants charging her with failure to appear in court on pending criminal cases. Records show one of the cases is a probation violation linked to a drug sales conviction.
Held on $25,000 bond, Donaldson was due to be arraigned Tuesday in New London Superior Court.
