Firefighters extinguish fire at Norwich home
Norwich ― Firefighters battled a fire on Saturday at a single-family home at 11 Third Street.
One occupant, who was home at the time of the fire, was evaluated for minor injuries, the Norwich Fire Department said in a news release.
The City of Norwich Fire Department, with help from Taftville Truck-25 and Laurel Hill Engine-62, responded to the reported kitchen fire in a one-and-a-half story home at 3:36 p.m., according to the release.
Firefighters said they knocked down the fire in 14 minutes and had it under control in 45 minutes. No firefighters were injured.
The Norwich Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
East Great Plain Fire Department Rescue 5, Mohegan Tribal FAST, Norwich Public Utilities, American Red Cross, the city building department and city police also assisted.
