Two arrested after road rage car chase in Norwich
Norwich ― Two people face charges stemming from a road rage incident on Oct. 4, when police say they began chasing a vehicle that struck their car in a hit-and-run a day earlier.
Police charged Tonyia L. Lovejoy, 31, of Thompson, on Wednesday with first-degree reckless endangerment, reckless driving and three counts of risk of injury to a minor. Kevin A. Mason, 36, of 9 Pequot Road, No. 1, Uncasville, was charged with first-degree reckless endangerment and three counts of risk of injury to a minor.
They were each released on a $15,000 bond and are scheduled to appear in Norwich Superior Court on Nov. 14.
The two were taken into custody after police obtained a warrant for their arrest in connection with what they called an Oct. 4 road rage incident.
On Oct. 4, police charged Angelic M. Griffin, 50, of 324 W. Main St., No. 2, with evading responsibility, misuse of plates, failure to carry minimum insurance, driving an unregistered motor vehicle and driving without a license in connection with the hit-and-run on Oct. 3.
Police said the next day, Lovejoy was driving with her three children and Mason when she spotted a vehicle that had struck her car the day before in a hit-and-run incident.
Police said that instead of alerting them, Lovejoy chased the vehicle, “driving recklessly.” The chase ended at the Dollar General at 313 W. Main St., Norwich.
