Montville man arrested in road rage incident involving large knife, 'racial slurs'
New London — Police charged a Montville man with a hate crime Tuesday after what they described as a road rage incident that involved a large knife and racial slurs.
New London police charged Tracy Delillo, 59, of 211 Gay Hill Road, Montville, around 5:50 p.m. in a road rage incident that led to both cars pulling off Broad Street and into a parking lot. Delillo left his vehicle and began "yelling threatening language, obscenities and racial slurs" at the other person and wielding a large knife, police said in a news release Wednesday. Police did not specify what obscenities or slurs were used.
Delillo is charged with second-degree intimidation based on bigotry or bias, second-degree threatening, second-degree breach of peace and carrying a dangerous weapon. He was being held in lieu of a $50,000 bond. Police said they recovered two knives at the scene.
