    Local roundup: ECC girls’ basketball tournaments begin on Wednesday

    The Eastern Connecticut Conference girls’ basketball tournaments get underway on Wednesday and culminate on Tuesday, Feb. 20, with a pair of championship games at Mohegan Sun Arena.

    There are three first-round games on Wednesday. In Division I, No. 9 East Lyme plays at No. 8 Waterford at 4:15 p.m. In Division II, No. 10 Putnam plays at No. 9 Tourtellotte (5:30) and No. 9 Wheeler plays at No. 8 Griswold (7).

    The quarterfinals are on Thursday and all four semifinals will be played on Saturday at Fitch. The Division II final at the Sun begins at 6 p.m., with the Division II final at 8 p.m. Both finals will be streamed live by GameDay at theday.com.

    Division I quarterfinals have the East Lyme-Waterford winner at No. 1 New London (6 p.m.), No. 5 Woodstock Academy at No. 4 Fitch (6:30), No. 7 Killingly at No. 2 Bacon Academy (6) and No. 6 Ledyard at No. 3 NFA (7).

    The Division II quarters have the Griswold-Wheeler winner at No. 1 Stonington (6), No. 5 Plainfield at No. 4 St. Bernard (6), the Tourtellotte-Putnam winner at No. 2 Windham (6) and No. 6 Montville No. 3 Lyman Memorial (6).

    Girls’ basketball

    • Bolton rallied to beat Lyman Memorial 50-34 in a nonleague game on Monday. The Bulldogs (13-7) led 17-11 after one quarter but were held to 17 points over the final three quarters. Phoebe Carpenter led Lyman with nine points, nine rebounds and six blocks.

    Boys’ basketball

    • Aaron LoPresto scored 22 points to lead Stonington to a 77-71 win over Waterford on Monday. Robbie Scavello had 18 points and Alex DePerry scored 15 for the Bears (14-5). Juan Morel Jr. led the Lancers (8-10) with 23 points and Parker Spencer had 11 points and three steals.

    • Brendan Osso had 15 points and seven rebounds as East Lyme beat Amistad 53-33 in a nonleague game on Monday. Nick Petrini had nnie points and 14 rebounds for the Vikings (12-7).

    • Ledyard beat Putnam 66-55 on Monday. Ethan Petrowski scored 29 points for the Colonels (4-13).
