    Probable starters: Lynx, 6-1 F Bridget Carleton (8.0 ppg), 6-4 F Alanna Smith (11.9 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 3.2 apg), 6-1 F Napheesa Collier (20.6 ppg, 10.4 rpg, 3.8 apg), 5-11 G Kayla McBride (15.8 ppg, 3.7 apg), 5-8 G Courtney Williams (9.8 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 5.3 apg).

Noteworthy: The Sun (15-4) are 1-0 against the Lynx this season, winning 83-82 in overtime on May 23 in Connecticut and that’s no easy feat considering the success of the Lynx. Minnesota (14-5) won the Commissioner’s Cup against the New York Liberty on June 25 in New York, 95-89, representing the Western Conference. ... The Sun are coming off an 83-72 victory Monday at Phoenix, with Jones leading the way with 18 points, seven rebounds, one assist and one steal. Carrington added 16 points and eight rebounds and Alyssa Thomas notched her eighth double-double of the season with 10 points, 12 rebounds, six assists, one steal and two blocks. Minnesota, meanwhile, lost to the Liberty on Tuesday in a Commissioner’s Cup rematch, 76-67. McBride led the Lynx with 17 points, while Collier, the former UConn great, notched a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. ... Minnesota head coach Cheryl Reeve is in her 15th season with Minnesota and will coach the U.S. Olympic Team at the 2024 Games in Paris. ... The two teams were involved in a trade in the offseason with Tiffany Mitchell coming to the Sun in exchange for point guard Natisha Hiedeman, who played for the Sun from 2019-2023. Sun guard Rachel Banham also played for the Lynx last season. ... Bonner and Jones were named to the WNBA All-Star team on Tuesday and will compete against the U.S. Olympic team on Saturday, July 20 at the Footprint Center in Phoenix, home of the Phoenix Mercury. The game will air on ABC. Thomas is a member of the Olympic Team and will oppose Bonner, her fiancee. “I plan to bust her up,” Bonner said with a laugh last week, asked if there had been any discussion between the two regarding opposing one another. “If I get on the team, I’m gonna try to bust her up. It’s great competition. I’ve got no pressure; she’s got most of the pressure, you know, it’s Team USA. Of course I’m rooting for them when I get to Paris, but when we step on that court, if I score in her face I’m coming out because I don’t want to play anymore because I don’t want her to get any give-backs. A little love competition, friendly competition.” ... Connecticut’s Moriah Jefferson continues to miss time following surgery on her right ankle.
