    Agsalud leads Waterford past NFA

    Waterford - Danica Agsalud had 18 assists and three kills Wednesday as the Waterford High School volleyball team defeated NFA, 25-15, 28-26, 25-20.

    Ava Majeski had 21 digs for the Lancers (6-0) and Brielle Kenney 12 digs and seven kills. Stella Hogan had five kills for NFA (4-3).

    In other volleyball games:

    • Grasso Tech defeated Vinal Tech, 25-5, 15-16, 25-17. Jada Muirhead had 20 service points, Vera Bonville 11 service points and Yira Colon had five assists.

    • Windham defeated New London, 25-15, 25-18, 25-14. Alyse Manley and Adriana Vitorino had five service points apiece for the Whalers (0-5).

    • Lizzie Maffeo had six kills and Montville defeated Bacon Academy, 29-26, 25-21, 25-23. Mackenzie Payne had 18 assists for the Wolves (6-2). Dominique Sanchez had 25 digs and Maddie Meyer 15 kills for Bacon (4-3).

    • Woodstock defeated East Lyme, 3-1. Abby Parulis had 17 kills and Megan Romanowicz 18 assists for the Vikings (3-3).

    • Haddam Killingworth defeated Old Lyme, 25-16, 25-14, 25-15. Maya LeQuire had nine kills and 20 digs and Kaylyn Vernon nine assists for Old Lyme (2-5)

    • Griswold defeated Fitch, 3-1. Abby Matheson had 18 kills, 13 digs and four aces, Kierra Neilson had 16 kills, eight blocks and four digs, Bella Bruno had 42 assists, eight digs and two blocks and Summer McLean had seven kills and 10 digs for Griswold (3-2). Katie Virtue had 11 kills, Leilani McCoy nine kills, Emma Main 16 assists and May Serraro eight assists for Fitch (2-6).

    • Norwich Tech lost to Putnam 3-1 on Tuesday. Olivia Luurtsema had nine digs and eight assists, Abby Ulrich had eight digs, five kills and two blocks and Victoria Tirado had six kills, five digs and two aces for Norwich Tech (4-2).

    Girls’ soccer

    • Paige Jessuck scored two goals in the second half and Waterford defeated Woodstock, 3-1. Charlotte Jessuck also scored for the undefeated Lancers (6-0-1).

    • Juju Guarraia scored with 5:54 left in the game from Acadia Evans and East Lyme blanked NFA, 1-0. Sam Rodes made two saves and earned the shutout for East Lyme (5-1-1).

    • Karissa Hochdorfer scored the game’s lone goal and Montville defeated Griswold, 1-0. Sienna Gressly and Katie Myjak combined to make seven saves for the Wolves (5-0).

    Women’s soccer

    • Tara Jessen and Teal Wasson scored for Coast Guard Academy during its 2-2 tie with Wentworth. The Bears are 0-5.

    Calendar

    • The Waterford Babe Ruth annual meeting and election of officers will be held at 7 p.m. Sept. 19 at the Babe Ruth Field. The league is looking for volunteers to serve on the board of directors. If interested, please contact president Lucas Beaney via email at beans3@snet.net.
