    Local roundup: Molleur wins SK Modifieds race at Speedbowl

    Waterford — Andrew Molleur closed in on first place in the SK Modifieds division lead with his victory on Saturday night at the New London-Waterford Speedbowl.

    Anthony Flannery, who finished fifth, leads the point standings with 417 and Molleur is second with 410. Eric Berndt was second on Saturday and Todd Owen finished third. The Speedbowl concludes its season with its finale on Oct. 18-20.

    Evan Bourgeois remained in first place in the SK Lights with his third win of the season and Jason Palmer increased his lead with his seventh win in Late Models.

    Al Stone III took over the points lead with his fourth win of the season in Street Stocks and Charles Canfield did the same thing is Mini Stocks with his third win.

    PJ Evans picked up his sixth win in Legend Cars and Austin Long earned his second win of the season in Trucks.

    H.S. cross country

    • The Williams School boys’ team went 1-2 in a quad-meet with Watkinson and EF Academy at Wooster School on Saturday. Jadiel Thomas of Williams won the race and teammate Mack Rodgers finished third. In the girls’ race Alexa Pesarik was fifth and teammate Lena Cosentino finished sixth.

    College volleyball

    • Connecticut College was swept by Wesleyan in a New England Small College Athletic Conference match on Saturday, falling 20-25, 21-25, 20-25. Rae Wartelle had seven kills, Katherine Randall had seven kills, 10 digs and three aces, Josie Kelly had 31 assists and nine digs and Taylor Merrifield had 10 digs for the Camels (9-5, 0-4).

    Men’s hockey

    • Jake Percival scored two goals and had an assist as UConn beat Colgate 6-2 on Saturday night. Tabor Heaslip, Jake Richard, Kaden Shahan and Ryan Tattle scored goals, Taylor Muszelik made 32 saves and Joey Muldowney had two assists for the Huskies (2-0).
