Credit card skimmers found at 2 Big Y stores in Connecticut
Big Y supermarkets said devices that steal customers' credit card information had been installed at two of its Connecticut stores.
One was found in the Plainville Big Y, 275 New Britain Ave., and another one was found in the Big Y at 85 Bridge St. in Naugatuck, according to Jade Rivera-McFarlin, manager of communications.
"We are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding this incident, and we notified and are working with law enforcement," Rivera-McFarlin said. "We have inspected all of our terminals, and continue to do so."
"If we learn that any particular customer's information was compromised, we will promptly notify them and provide them with additional information so that they can take steps to protect themselves," she said.
In the meantime, she advised customers who may be affected to check their bank and credit card statements for any fraudulent activity and contact the financial institutions directly if they see something amiss.
