Bicyclist seriously hurt in Clinton after hit by car

CLINTON — A bicyclist was seriously injured after being struck by a car Tuesday morning, according to police.

Clinton Police Sgt. Spencer Mangs said the crash occurred at the intersection of Route 1, also known as East Main Street, and Route 145, also known as Old Post Road, around 7:55 a.m.

Mangs said the bicyclist was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital after officers rendered aid at the scene. He added the motorist did not report any injuries.

The department's Accident Reconstruction Team and Detective Division are investigating the crash, Mangs said, and there was no immediate identifying information on either person involved.
